LEXINGTON, Ky. (July 25, 2018) − The Bluegrass Area Jazz Association (BAJA) will present the world-famous Glenn Miller Orchestra for one performance beginning 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 25, at the Lexington Opera House.

With its unique sound, the Glenn Miller Orchestra is considered to be one of the greatest big bands of all time. The current Glenn Miller Orchestra was formed in 1956 and has been touring consistently since, playing an average of 300 live dates a year, all around the world.  Vocalist Nick Hilscher is the orchestra’s present musical director.

BAJA is a nonprofit organization that promotes jazz education and performances in central Kentucky. The group provides clinics, workshops, and also supports the Jazz Ambassadors, a 17-piece big band comprised of area musicians including students from the UK Jazz Studies program.  Proceeds from the event will benefit BAJA’s mission of supporting jazz projects that educate and entertain.

BAJA’s Jazz Ambassadors perform under the artistic direction of Miles Osland and musical direction of David Hummel. The Jazz Ambassadors will open this concert with a set of contemporary big band music.

Tickets for the Glenn Miller Orchestra concert will go on sale at 10:00am on Wednesday, August 1, through the Lexington Center Ticket Office at (859) 233-3535. Discounts are available to groups of 10 or more.
