Great Opportunities for Volunteers at the Opera House!

The Opera House salutes our volunteer staff for over thirty-five years of tireless work dedicated to the Theatre!

Ticket-Takers & Ushers

The Opera House utilizes volunteers to serve as ushers and ticket takers for many events. All volunteers are required to complete an orientation/training session to learn about guest service policies and to familiarize themselves with the facility. Ushers are asked to make a commitment of seven local productions during the season if they wish to work a Broadway Live or Variety Live event.

Those who have an interest are welcome to receive training both as a ticket taker and usher, however during an event a person may only work in ONE of these positions.

New Volunteers who want to apply as ushers or ticket takers for the Opera House must complete an application and attend the new training session.

Veteran Volunteers must attend an annual refresher training session.
Ticket Takers Must also complete Usher Training

For more information, or to register for the next orientation contact Volunteer Coordinator – Emma White, at ewhite@lexingtonoperahouse.com

Some basic requirements of our ushers include:

  • Standing for long periods of time
  • Ability to walk stairs, sometimes in dim light
  • Greeting and assisting patrons with a smile!
  • Age 18 years and older are invited to participate. (16 and 17-year-olds may be approved, with parental permission and two letters of reference from teachers or employers.)

Broadway Live Hospitality / Specialty of the House

The Lexington Opera House coordinates a volunteer group to help host cast meals for our touring Broadway Live productions. If you enjoy cooking and offering local hospitality to our visitors, this opportunity is for you!

Note: Specialty of the House is currently operating at maximum capacity and is not accepting new applications at this time.
